Video keeps gaining ground, especially the short format. But in B2B, more video is not the goal. Video that serves the message is. Done well, it builds connection and authority faster than text or a static image, because it combines what you say with how you say it. Done as a checkbox, it just adds cost.
Video establishes a deeper connection than a static image because it pairs visuals, audio and tone. That combination makes even complex messages easier to grasp, builds empathy, and gets shared more readily than text. For a B2B buyer researching a decision, a clear explainer or a genuine customer story does more than a page of copy.
Video is not one thing. Decide the job first, then the format:
Match the tone (informative, emotional, entertaining) to the brand and the stage of the buyer's journey.
Authentic does not mean unplanned. A usable video needs a goal, a script or outline, the right setup, and real post-production: cutting, subtitles (many watch on mute), overlays and a clear call to action. Invest in evergreen content built around topics and keywords tied to your business. A well-produced explainer keeps working for years, long after a trend-chasing clip is forgotten.
Views and likes are the easy metrics and the least useful. What matters is whether the video moved someone toward a conversation. That means tying video engagement back to the CRM: which video a lead watched, how it influenced the pipeline, what content preceded a qualified opportunity. Without that link, you are optimising for attention instead of revenue.
In our Content Engine work, video is planned as part of the system: the right type for the job, produced to last, and connected to the Demand Generation engine and the CRM, so it reports pipeline rather than views.
If you are producing video because you feel you should, but cannot say what it returns, the format is not the problem, the system underneath it is. A Diagnosis shows you where.
